Colora
In
its ideal, the Colorado Chapter of APTA
.
. . will provide clear direction for Physical Therapy in
Colorado. It will facilitate discussions and strategies related to the
APTA Vision 2020 and be insistent and convincing about its goals. It
will capitalize on and promote the APTA Vision 2020. It will motivate
the PT community to be aware and take advantage of the fact that “PT
is rising.”
.
. . will be strong, proactive and present in all legislative and
regulatory arenas within Colorado’s government. The chapter will
maintain an extensive legislative network, with members throughout the
state assigned to liaison with their legislators on behalf of PT. More
PT professionals will be involved in the political process.
.
. . will develop and maintain a progressive and rapid information
management system. Its website will be the best resource for PTs and
the community. It will provide valuable information and promote the
profession. It will provide links to research and sources for clinical
trials for members. It will educate the public about PT.
.
. . will be the leader in embracing and endorsing the use of evidence
as the basis for making clinical decisions. It will promote
evidence-based research. It will make access to evidence-based research
findings easy through its web site and other appropriate research
cataloging and/or linking tools. It will coordinate and participate in
specific research projects.
.
. . will assist and guide its members in understanding and
implementing the notion of autonomous practice.
Using education as its springboard, it will bring PTs together
for instructional purposes and for the creation of a PT community. It
will involve more clinicians in the educational process, pointing the
way to the many options of venue or pathways to advanced education. It
will make strides in the achievement of chapter-approved, mandatory CEUs
for Physical Therapy.
.
. . will promote leadership and will develop its leaders. It’s
older members will mentor the young and will encourage its younger
members to mentor the old as a means of speeding up the process of
recognizing, accepting and embracing change.
.
. . will promote and encourage all PTs to spread the word about PT
and PT treatment options through synergistic collaboration. All PT
specialty areas will carry a common message, “PT as practitioner
of choice . . . PT for motion and mobility.” Private practice
practitioners and institutional practitioners will work together to
increase public awareness of the notions of direct access and the value
of PT services. Those in institutional settings will consider themselves
a specialty department within that setting and ensuring that patient PT
care is controlled by the PT. PTs will be present at health fairs and any venue that provides exposure to the profession. The perceived value of PT service will increase, PTs will feel good about their contributions and will tell others about their contributions. PTs will believe in their worth, and having achieved this vision, the public will endorse them. PTs in urban and rural settings will share that sense of professional contribution. |
