At Issue: Payment for PT Services

Addressing a full house:  Rhea Cohen, PT, DPT, Reimbursement Specialist, National APTA Reimbursement Committee addressed a full house at a special two hour session aimed at PT private practices. The free seminar was sponsored by the APTA/Colorado Chapter's Reimbursement/Payer Relations Committee on April 23rd. The meeting facilities were provided by Regis University.

 Ms. Cohen discussed three key topics: 1) contract negotiations; 2) National trends in combating per diem rates, and 3) Medicare coding, modifiers and bundling. The session was open to all APTA members and private practice office managers. The 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. session was followed by a one hour networking and social session.

The Chapter's Reimbursement/Payer Relations Committee meets regularly to discuss challenges to payment for services. Patricia Pennell, of Back to Motion PT, Denver, and Audrey Waldron, PT, Waldron's Peak Physical Therapy, Boulder, serve as co-chairs of the committee and engineered the session for the Chapter.
