President Greg McCall Welcomes to Denver 2,000 plus attendees and
exhibitors at APTA 2007
On behalf of the over 1,300 Colorado APTA
members, welcome to Colorado, home to such notables as Heavyweight
Champion Jack Dempsey, Swing Band Leader Glenn Miller and Astronaut
Jack Swiggert of Apollo 13 fame.. And welcome to Denver, home to
Mamie Eisenhower, The Unsinkable Molly Brown of Titanic fame,
Chauncey Billups of the Detroit Pistons, Don Cheadle and Keri
Russell of Hollywood fame.
Denver is also home to Mile High Stadium where the Broncos play. And
in the visitors locker room as they exit onto the field, there is a
sign prominently displayed to remind the visiting players that they
are at 5,280 feet above sea level. It is placed there to intimidate,
to make the other team feel just a little defeated before they even
go onto the field. As my father likes to say “the air here comes in
short pants”.
But there is another way to view being at altitude. As the theme of
this year’s conference “Reaching New Heights” connotes, to be at
altitude is to be above the rest. And that is what we are all
gathered here to do. To elevate ourselves and our profession above
our past accomplishments, and to exceed our own and others
expectations.
So enjoy our city and what it has to offer. Have a good time and be
excited about our profession. Take back with you to your own homes
the new knowledge and excitement you gain while you are here, so
that even at sea level, we all continue to reach new heights.
Thank you , and have a great conference!
Greg McCall, PT
