Owens Declares PT Month,
Praises Benefits of Physical Therapy
Governor Bill Owens has declared
October 2006 as Physical Therapy
Month in Colorado. At a recent Proclamation Signing held in his Executive
Chambers and attended by members of the PT Month Promotion Committee, the
Governor said he has first hand experience of the value and benefits of
physical therapy and praised PT professionals for the contributions they
make to the public.
The proclamation reads in part,
"The practice of physical therapy involves injury prevention, general
health and fitness, and rehabilitation following injury, disease, or
surgery; and
"Physical therapy helps to improve the quality of life and physical
well-being of citizens of all ages, including cardiac patients, children,
athletes, and elderly Coloradans; and
"Through physical therapy practice, education , and research, physical
therapists are able to prevent disease, promote health, reduce pain and
enhance quality of life; and
"The State of Colorado recognizes physical therapists for their continued
dedication to the citizens of this state, and for devoting their time and
talents to enhance the health of Coloradans."
