Mark Holmes,
PT
Today’s
first Bob Doctor Award Recipient exemplifies the ultimate “small
business owner.” He began working in Physical Therapy in 1999 and
now practices full-time as a physical therapist in his busy and
successful practice in Littleton, Cactus Sport and Spine.
He served as the Chair of the Chapter’s Private Practice SIG and on
the Board of Directors for several years until this past September.
He is married to Jodi Holmes. His children are Shae, Jace and
step-child Tanner Hirstine.

Chapter.

Service Award Presented to
Martin Lavine,
PT
This
Bob Doctor Recipient began working in Physical Therapy in 1994. In 2004 he
opened PushGym, a physical therapy and personal training facility. In his past
14 years of practice as a Physical Therapist, he has been an active and integral
member of the APTA – CO Chapter participating as a Government Affairs Committee
member, past treasurer of the APTA-CO PAC and is serving as the current Co-Chair
of the Sunset Task Force. He is also the Past President of the UCHSC Alumni
Association.
Marty Lavine, one of this year’s Bob Doctor recipients, is married
to Colleen O’Brien, a teacher at Overland High School and has two
daughters, Tate (14) and Fiona (11).
Congratulations to Marty Lavine for being recognized as a Bob Doctor
for his valuable and excellent service to the APTA-CO Chapter.

Physical Therapist Assistant Award Presented to
Jo Ann Beine, PTA

This year’s recipient of Colorado’s
Outstanding PTA Award, Jo Ann Beine, graduated from Arapahoe
Community College’s PTA program in 1998 and began work as a PTA and
Administrative Manager for NovaCare Outpatient Rehab in Littleton,
CO. She started at ACC as a faculty member in 2005. As part of her
responsibilities on campus, Jo Ann serves as the advisor for the PTA
club, a student organization developing professionalism and
leadership for students as they create awareness of PTAs in the
collegiate community as well as in Colorado communities. She also
created and implemented a student portfolio program. This service
learning program includes service to the community through
volunteering, service to the college through PTA club activities,
and service to the profession through APTA/CO Chapter activities and
involvement.
This summer, Jo Ann finished her
Master’s Degree (MLS) from DU. She is currently in her second year
as Faculty Senate President at ACC. In addition, she volunteers with
Girls on the Run a non-profit prevention program that
encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy
lifestyles through running. The programs address all aspects of
girls’ development – physical, emotional, mental, social and
spiritual well-being.
