Outstanding PTA for 2011 Award Presented to
Mary Kelly, PTA

This year’s recipient of Colorado’s
Outstanding PTA Award serves as a role model for physical therapist
assistants and physical therapists alike, in her zeal to make a
difference and to participate in any activity that will enhance the
profession of physical therapy. Just get her started and you can
immediately see her passion. She thrives on taking on a new
challenge and learning all she can learn about her new endeavors.
She is married, has three wonderful children which have supported
her endeavors over the years.
She has been a physical therapist assistant since 1982 and a member
of the APTA since 1981. She will be celebrating her 30th year
working in therapy and throughout this time she has maintained her
involvement in the Association. The past two years she has been
serving on the Sunset Bill Committee (which included the new
Certification of PTA's in Colorado), the Governance Task Force and
enjoying her second term as PTA Representative to the National
Caucus at the APTA House of Delegates. She has lobbied both at the
State Capital and National Capital promoting co-sponsors of PT
related bills. This recipient enjoys being a member of the Clinical
Educators Forum and loves to share and promote clinical education as
an occasional guest speaker. Part of her love for education involves
being an active Advisory Board Member for PIMA's PTA program.
She knows the importance of being a member of the APTA (in which she
shares with students), the importance of knowing our Legislators
both in the state and nationally, and has learned how our governing
body functions for all PT/PTA's.
The co-workers at Colorado Physical Therapy Institute (CPTI) in
Broomfield, CO look up to her because of her participation in our
profession. Co-workers can readily see her passion for and
commitment to the profession.
By now you have likely identified this year’s recipient of
Colorado’s Outstanding Physical Therapist Assistant Award as Mary
Kelly. Mary, let me be the first to congratulate you on this award.
Congratulations!
