PT Service Awards
This award, named for a dear friend of
many and one of the most fantastic Colorado Chapter
volunteers of all time, recognizes APTA members for their
valuable and exceptional service to the APTA/Colorado Chapter. Five recipients
were selected for the award this year, but only three were
presented. The other two will receive
their awards at the Spring Convention on April 24, 2010. Awards
were presented by Chapter President Amy Stone Hammerich..
Wendy Mathewson,
PT, MSPT
The quality of physical therapy in a
corporate setting has advanced many times over because of this
Bob Doctor award recipient.
Earning an MSPT from Regis University in
1998, this physical therapist started out as a staff PT, soon
became a center manager and is now the regional clinical
coordinator at Select Physical Therapy. In this position, she
oversees education and professional development. She is married
and the mother of two daughters and is an affiliate faculty
member at Regis University.
She has worked with the Colorado Chapter
since 1998 in various capacities. She never hesitates to volunteer and has
served on the Chapter’s Nominating Committee since 2001,
chairing the committee four different years. Colleagues describe
her as "behind the scenes, modest, organized and always willing
to help."
Thank you Wendy Mathewson for all
you do for physical therapy in your work place and your
community.

PT, DPT, GCS, OCS, FAAOMPT
Our next Bob Doctor award recipient keeps
things hopping wherever he goes. Besides having many initials
after his name -- PT, DPT, GCS, OCS, FAAOMPT – with each
credential demonstrating his keen interest and advanced study in
his chosen profession - he eagerly and frequently volunteers to
his knowledge and expertise in physical therapy with his
professional colleagues and student interns.
This outstanding clinician is passionate
about physical therapy and shows it every day as he provides
excellent and cutting edge rehabilitation to his patients while
teaching in the Regis University DPT program.
Having worked seven years in nursing
homes, home health agencies rehab centers and outpatient
hospitals in the state of Michigan, this physical therapist
arrived in Colorado Springs in 2002, ready to take on the world.
He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy at Regis University in
2005 and his Fellowship in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy in
2006.
He has served in the APTA House of
Delegates for four years; He has been on the National PT Exam
Expert panel and the ACOEM Hip Panel; He is a Chief Fellow in
the Regis Fellowship in OMPT and is an APTA credentialed
clinical instructor. He currently works at Colorado Sport &
Spine Center in Colorado Springs. Congratulations Cameron
MacDonald.
Linda Hannen, PT
”Loyal and Consistent” would be two words
that describe the next award winner, If you
want to get a job done, you can always count on this physical
therapist to finish it correctly the first time. And she’s been
demonstrating that since 1970 when she graduated from the
University of Colorado with a BS in PT.
Since that time she worked at Spalding
Hospital, spent many years in private practice, experienced a
national corporate acquisition, and returned in 2001 to her alma
mater, CU Denver.
This award winner is an eager volunteer,
having served as president and faculty liaison to the DU Denver
PT Alumni Association. She is currently co-chair of the
Chapter’s Education / Professional Development Committee where
she consistently identifies and recommends outstanding speakers
and topics for our spring and fall conferences. She is also a
member of the Chapter’s Nominating Committee.
Linda Hannen, you exemplify the
best of the best in our profession. Thank you for all you do for
physical therapy in Colorado.
