PR Award 2006 --

Each year, the Colorado Chapter recognizes the clinic, facility, individual or group of individuals who do the most outstanding job in promoting physical therapy during October – which is National Physical Therapy Month.

This year’s award goes to many people in many PT practices who worked actively on PT Month 2005. Under the direction of Patty Pennell, chair of the Private Practice SIG, and inspired by Paul O’Brian, PT, CSCS, and his key staff member Dianne Steppe at Accelerate Physical Therapy in Arvada, the Private Practice SIG responded to the call.

Gov. Bill Owens and 30 mayors and city councils throughout the state issued honorary proclamations of PT Month helping to raise public understanding of the value and role of physical therapy in the maintenance and restoration of health.

The cities are Alamosa, Arvada, Aspen, Basalt, Boulder, Brighton, Broomfield, Brush, Canon City, Colorado Springs, City and County of Denver, Durango, Eaton, Estes Park, Fort Collins, Fort Morgan, Glenwood Springs, Grand Junction, Greeley, Lafayette, Lakewood, Littleton, Louisville, Loveland, Montrose, Pueblo, Sterling, Thornton, Westminster and Wheat Ridge (proclaimed by our own Gretchen Cerveny, PT, mayor).

The Private Practice SIG took the lead in coordinating the proclamations and arranging for PPSIG members to accept the proclamations at public ceremonies.IN ADDITION! At least 16 private practice clinics opened their doors on Saturday, October 15, 2005, to the public for a Free Evaluation Day in honor of the event.

Congratulations to the Private Practice SIG for making Physical Therapists visible during PT Month 2005!
