APTA/Colorado Chapter Committees

The pressures on the physical therapy profession are increasing. The Chapter has been successful in accomplishing much for our membership, primarily through the efforts of our dedicated volunteers. But we need new faces, new ideas, and new energy. 

Please take a minute to sign up below to help out in an area that interests you. You must be a member of the APTA/Colorado Chapter to serve on a committee.

  AFFILIATE SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP (SIG)
This SIG represents physical therapist assistant members of the Colorado Chapter.

PRIVATE PRACTICE SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP (SIG)
This SIG represents physical therapists in private practice.

STUDENT SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP (SIG)
This SIG represents physical therapist and physical therapist assistant students. (If you check this item, you will be sent membership, meeting and dues information.)

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Develops and expands opportunities for ongoing education for Colorado physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and physical therapy students. Plans Spring Convention, Fall Symposium and one other major continuing education course per year. Coordinates exhibitors and exhibitor areas and sponsorships and assists with registration of on-site attendees. (meets monthly)

ETHICS
Encourages and promotes ethical practice among chapter members; Investigates complaints of violations of ethical standards by members according to APTA Judicial Committee guidelines. This is an appointed committee. If you check this, your name will be considered as an appointee to the committee. (meets as needed)

FINANCE
Assists in planning and reviewing the chapter finances including: fiscal management, strategic planning, cost-benefit assessment, budget preparation, and financial record-keeping. (meets as needed)

GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS
Monitors and reports on local and national legislative activities; lobbies issues as needed; advocates for physical therapy before regulatory bodies;

REIMBURSEMENT/PAYMENT

Advocates for prompt and reasonable payment for Physical Therapy services and serves as liaison between Chapter members and third party payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Workers Comp, commercial insurers). (meets as needed)

NOMINATING COMMITTEE
Prepares slate of nominees to be presented at the spring convention, including PTs and PTAs from each district, male and female, hospitals and clinics. This is an elected committee. If you check this, your name will be considered as a candidate for election to this committee. (meets as needed)

RESEARCH
Serves as a resource support group to assist in research conducted by chapter members. (meets 3-4 times per year)

TECHNOLOGY
Identifies technology that would be most useful to PTs and the association; monitors changes in PT utilization and attitudes towards technology; develops training and informational programs to encourage the use of technology; demonstrates and utilizes technology as part of annual convention; creates systems such as e-mail and web site: apta@assnoffice.com and www.assnoffice.com/apta

COLORADO PHYSICAL THERAPY POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE
Serves as a fundraising group committed to supporting state and local candidates whose views are supportive of the profession and practice of physical therapy.
