What is the APTA/Colorado Chapter?
The APTA/Colorado Chapter, founded in 1945, is
a professional, non-profit association composed of approximately 1,200 physical
therapists, physical therapist assistants, and physical therapist/physical
therapist assistant students.
It is the mission of the APTA/Colorado
Chapter to provide leadership in:
- the identification and
interpretation of trends and issues;
- communication; coordinated
action;
- sharing of ideas and
professional collegiality;
- and in the development and
improvement of physical therapy education, practice and research.
The APTA/Colorado
Chapter is a component chapter of the
American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Chapter Governance
The APTA/Colorado Chapter has a Board of
Directors composed of the Chapter Officers and Directors elected at-large and
representing Districts and recognized Special Interest Groups (SIGs).

Member Benefits
Through its web site, the APTA/Colorado
Chapter provides practice information and professional resources for Physical
Therapy on a 24/7 basis. The site contains information that has been most
requested by members and is updated constantly to provide the latest
information. We are continually applying the use of technology to improve
communications. Please contact the
webmaster to communicate your opinions, ideas, etc.
The Chapter also has
the ability to distribute electronic communications and
press releases throughout a district or across the
state, country or the world.
The Colorado Chapter cultivates relationships between its members and news media
throughout the State of Colorado to publicize physical therapy and APTA
activities and issues. The principle public relations effort of the Chapter is
the
9Health Fair, held in early April each year.
Continuing Education
The APTA/Colorado
Chapter's Professional Development Committee seeks to
offer the education programs of vital interest to the
practice of PT in the state and the nation. Through its
annual Convention, Fall Symposium and continuing
education courses, the Chapter brings national and
international experts to Colorado to share their
knowledge and skills with members.
Districts
The APTA/Colorado
Chapter is divided into four districts: West Slope,
Northeast, Southeast and Mile High. These districts
provide local resources to members within their
geographic areas in Colorado.

Governmental Affairs
The APTA/Colorado Chapter is a voice on behalf of legislation and regulation
that affects Physical Therapy. The Chapter has developed and maintained active
lobbying efforts, presenting professional positions to legislators, State
governmental departments, and other professional health groups.
